August 6th Assignment

1. Would you support the development of a "bionic" person? I am not certain what is meant with this question... I could take it two ways. Bionic person could mean a robot, Artificial Intelligence, in which case I am absolutely against this technology. I feel like we seem to be unable to grasp the lesson that there are always negative, unintended consequences to our newly adopted technologies and the potential negative consequences of AI seem to outweigh any positives. For example: I can see the potential outcome being AI that becomes more intelligent than humans and take us over, subjugating us en masse.       On the other hand, if I take this question to mean a human who has more than one bionic limb, I am not necessarily opposed to this reality. I still feel skeptical to the technology and feel that it is a waste of our human ingenuity and earthly resources to dive down this technological rabbit hole. Then again, who am I to deny someone accessibility? 2. Would your vie

July 30th Assignment

1. While I had intellectually decided that Acupuncture was a viable modality of healing, I hadn't quite had the felt experience prior to deciding to enroll in acupuncture school here at ACCHS. I think that I still had some part of me that was very skeptical and unsure as to how or why the medicine worked. This changed about a month ago for me.       I have been having a pretty hard summer adjusting to living in a radically different place than what I was accustomed to back in Virginia in combination with missing my family and friends. I decided to give acupuncture a try and made an appointment. Wow! I felt stuff move that I am pretty sure had been energetically stuck in my body since I was a child. Whatever doubt or skepticism I may have had has been cleared out. I don't need to know in a reductive way how it works now that I have had the felt experience of it working. 2. I am still skeptical of Kirlian photography. On one hand, when I suspend that skepticism and believe th

July 23rd Biophysics Assignment

1. I know that I am a living system because I must consume living mater that, in turn, my body metabolizes into energy to continue the propagation of my living being in the world around me. My body is comprised of energy consumptive, self-propagating cells that organize into greater structures of self-propagating units that, as a whole, move me through my existence as long as its needs for fuel are being met. I cannot be removed from the system without dire consequences for my ability to continue living as I need to be continually interacting with the environment around me in order to maintain homeostasis within my body. 2. Biophysics is similar to Traditional Chinese Medicine in that both look at how each part of the entire living system interacts to create the whole living system. Biophysics differs from Traditional Chinese Medicine in the fact that it is interested in breaking down the living system into its parts in order to understand it better while Traditional Chinese Medici
