1. I know that I am a living system because I must consume living mater that, in turn, my body metabolizes into energy to continue the propagation of my living being in the world around me. My body is comprised of energy consumptive, self-propagating cells that organize into greater structures of self-propagating units that, as a whole, move me through my existence as long as its needs for fuel are being met. I cannot be removed from the system without dire consequences for my ability to continue living as I need to be continually interacting with the environment around me in order to maintain homeostasis within my body. 2.
